Greetings, Arcane Legions enthusiasts, and welcome to the
Technical version of the Arcane Legions rules. (If you're learning
to play the game then you should check out our basic
rulebook first.) Arcane Legions was designed as a casual game,
with a rules system that is straightforward and not overly
complicated. We must remember, however, that the game is not always
going to be played solely by casual players.
Many who play games like this require a higher level of detail to
resolve the corner cases and conflicts they may discover, so if
that's how you play then the technical version is for you. Here's
what it's for and how it works:
- This document is designed as a part FAQ, part addendum, in
which we get down and dirty into the kinds of things that most
players never have to worry about-- ability timing, the precise
order of a turn, template deconstruction, the definition of the
word is, and other such apparently unnecessary subjects
which are not, in fact, as superfluous as they might appear.
- This document will give those who require detailed specifics
the clarity they require, without making the rulebook an
unwieldy mess. It will help judges and tournament hosts resolve
disputes that may arise from the corner cases that inevitably
occur, and for which the rules lawyers among us live to debate.
This will be your Arcane Legions study guide.
- This document will change over time, as new powers or
abilities or rulings come into play that make us adjust and/or
rewrite specific passages in this file. We'll keep it updated
with a version number and try to highlight what has changed from
version to version.
Let the games begin!
