A Critical Hit occurs when the attacker rolls three sixes. When a critical hit takes place, the attacker gets an extra point of damage regardless of the defender's dice rolla.
If the attacker has the Deadly special ability, only two sixes are required to get a critical hit.
Critical hits apply to both close combat and ranged combat as well as to Special Ranged Combat Orders.
A critical hit must be rolled naturally. Abilities that change the results of a die roll (e.g. Intuition) and abilities that allow you to reroll dice (e.g. Good Fortune) cannot cause critical hits.
The following table shows the probability of a critical hit for different numbers of attack dice in a normal situation and with the Deadly ability active.
