The combat analyzer replaces the old web-based combat calculator. It's purpose
is to allow you to analyze and visualize how combat works in an
Arcane Legions game.
The analyzer itself, along with an introduction to how it works, is given on
the Combat Calculator page. This page describes the parts of the
analyzer in more detail and is intended as a reference.

specified attack for different numbers of defense dice. The status line will
show the weighted mean damage (power) of the attack and the expected back
damage from the defender (risk).
- Defense. Compute the expected damage amounts from the
specified defense against different numbers of attack dice. The status line
will show the weight mean damage (risk) to the defender and the expected back
damage to the attacker (power).
- CLEAR. Clear this button to erase all lines from the graph and
blank out all the special ability selections.
Special Ability Selections
The analyzer requires you to specify the number of ready attack and defense dice
on each combatant and any special abilities and conditions that apply. Some special
abilities (e.g. Good Fortune) are straightforward: you check the box
if the unit has the ability and leave it unchecked otherwise. If a special ability is
stackable (can apply more than once) it will allow you to specify a number instead of
checking a box.
Special abilities that only activate under certain circumstances should only be
specified if they apply. So, for example, if you select Xenophobic,
it should only be if the opponent is from a different faction and your army qualifies
as single-faction. Some abilities apply as remote conditions. For example,
Intuition applies if an allied unit has the ability active and the
unit performing the combat is an infantry. To indicate that the ability is of this
type, it is written in the past tense (e.g. Intuitioned).
In general, if an ability has a number box next to it, the number should be the
number of ready icons. An important exception is King of the Gauls.
In this case, the number is the number of allied Gallic units on or adjacent to
control terrain.
Finally, Bad Side is not a special ability at all, but indicates
that the unit in question is attacking or defending through a bad side.
A brief description of each ability is visible when you hover the mouse
over the ability name.
